Today was the first day of my maternity leave, and I must admit, it's been pretty nice. I got up early with R, drank some tea, read a book and took a nap. After getting woken up by a phone call, I went to the store to get some food, and now I have a chicken pot pie in the oven and a nice pot of stock going on the stove. I'll use some of the stock tomorrow night to make chicken piccata, and then freeze the rest in some ice cube trays to make little stocksicles--yum!
Things are not really progressing at all on the labor front. We've gotten a couple phone calls from people wanting to know if I'm "feeling anything," which has sent me into a rather apopletic rage. One of the life skills they need to teach in elementary school is never to ask a pregnant woman when she thinks she's going to have that baby. I can absolutely guarantee you that no one is more eager to get this show on the road than I am, so if I can be patient, so can the rest of the damn world.
The man just pulled up, so I'm out to be a dutiful wife.
Oh dear. I totally forgotten about that one stressful part of being pregnant, everyone's eagerness for you to go on. Hmmm. Maybe just don't answer the phone...yeah like that's an easy answer....didn't work for me either. I got nothing. Too bad you can't have a cocktail just yet.
